A private wine tasting is your chance to dig into what you actually love, not what a score or wine “guru” says belongs in your glass. Side-by-side comparisons are a great starting point, but they often leave people wondering why certain wines taste so different. That’s where the fun begins.

Learning what you’re tasting, and the story behind it, makes the experience both approachable and empowering. Whether it’s an intimate seated presentation or a more casual open-house style tasting, your guests will enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience that feels engaging and refreshingly unpretentious, because great wine is for everyone.

Here’s how it works:

  • You make a reservation for The Backroom.

  • You invite your group, from as few as 2 up to 12 guests.

  • You select the format (listed below) that best suits your event.

  • You select the theme of your tasting.

We handle the rest:

  • We reserve The Backroom for your event.

  • We handpick wines that align with the theme of your choosing.

  • We provide a warm up wine, featured wines, tasting sheets, and stemware.

  • We help you host an unforgettable wine-tasting experience!

GUIDED TASTING

A lively, structured presentation of 6 to 8 wines of your chosen theme, engaging your guests and welcoming discussion and participation.

Guests arrive up to 30 minutes in advance and are greeted with a warm-up wine and mingle until all are members of your party have arrived.

Once everyone is in attendance, guests are seated and led through a structured tasting in a presentation format — similar to a wine seminar, where group engagement is encouraged.

The tasting itself lasts 45 to 60 minutes. The event, including the warm-up, presentation, and wrap-up, lasts 1.5 to 2 hours.

THE BACK LOUNGE EXPERIENCE

Relaxed and organic. A selection with a story. Skipping the formal presentation and seating structure, guests are encouraged to mingle and socialize, pacing their flights at leisure.

A tasting station is set up with 6 to 8 wines of your chosen theme. Guests dictate the pace of the tastings as the event unfolds.

Guests are welcomed with a warm-up wine upon arrival. Once the tasting is underway, they can return to the table periodically to move on to the next wine.

Popularly utilized as a social mixer, guests are encouraged to engage in conversation about the wine with their wine guide and each other. This structure is unique as it allows for staggered guest arrival and social mingling.
